How to use

  3. You'll see the discounted price and exact rupee savings right away.
  4. Change any value and the result updates instantly - no need to click calculate again.

A 40% off sign sounds great, but if you don't know the original price it doesn't tell you much. This calculator takes the original price and discount percentage and gives you the exact sale price and rupee/dollar savings right away. The math is simple: multiply the original price by the discount percentage, divide by 100 to get the discount amount, then subtract from the original.

It's handy during sales season when you're comparing deals across different stores - one is offering 30% off a Rs.2,499 item while another has 25% off a Rs.2,199 version. Running both through the calculator shows you the actual price difference, not just the percentage. You can also work backwards: if you know the final price and discount %, it tells you what the original was.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the discounted price calculated?

Discounted price = original price x (1 - discount% / 100). So a 25% discount on Rs.1,000 gives you Rs.750. The savings amount is just original price x discount% / 100.

What if there are two discounts stacked?

Apply them one after the other, not by adding the percentages. A 20% discount followed by a further 10% off is not 30% total - it's 28%. You end up paying 80% of the original, then 90% of that, which is 72% of the starting price.

Does the calculator include GST or taxes?

No - the result is just the post-discount price before tax. If the product has GST, add that on top of the discounted amount separately.
