How do I calculate the number of days between two dates?
Subtract the earlier date from the later date. For example, from 1 January to 1 April is 90 days (or 91 in a leap year). Our calculator does this instantly, just pick both dates.
Does the calculator include or exclude the start and end dates?
By default, the calculation counts from the start date up to but not including the end date (like most date math). If you need to include both dates (e.g. for a 5-day event from Mon to Fri), add 1 to the result.
How many days are in a year?
A regular year has 365 days. A leap year (divisible by 4, except century years not divisible by 400) has 366 days. Leap years occur approximately every 4 years, 2024, 2028, 2032, etc.
What is the difference between calendar months and 30-day months?
Calendar months vary in length (28–31 days). When you say '3 months from 31 January', the answer depends on counting method, calendar month gives 30 April, while 3 × 30 days gives 1 May. For legal and financial contracts, calendar months are standard.
