Hangman
Classic hangman. Guess the hidden word letter by letter before you run out of chances. There's a hint if you get stuck, and a daily mode that resets every day with a streak counter.
Hint: Largest land animal
How to use
- A secret word is chosen and shown as blank squares, one per letter.
- Click any letter on the keyboard to guess it. If it's in the word, it reveals itself in the correct position(s).
- Each wrong guess adds a body part to the hangman. 6 wrong guesses and it's game over.
- Use the hint below the word if you're stuck. Daily mode resets every day and tracks your streak.

Hangman gives you a hidden word shown as blank dashes and a letter keyboard to guess from. Each wrong letter adds a piece to the hanging figure. Guess all the letters before the figure is complete and you win. Guess wrong six times and it is game over. The word set covers a range of difficulties so some rounds are straightforward and others will stump you.
Good hangman strategy starts with the most common letters in English. E is the most frequent letter overall, followed by T, A, O, I, N, S, H, and R. Guessing these first gives you the best statistical odds of hitting something early and narrowing down the word. Obscure consonants like Z, Q, X, and J are usually the last guesses rather than the first.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many wrong guesses are allowed?
You get six wrong guesses before the figure is complete and the game ends. A good strategy is to start with the most common English letters.
What categories of words are used?
Words come from a general vocabulary list across different lengths and difficulty levels. Categories include common nouns, adjectives, and everyday objects.
Can I play with a custom word?
Not in the standard mode. The word is randomly chosen by the game each round.
Is there a hint option?
There is no built-in hint. Part of the game's appeal is working through the word with only letter-frequency logic and partial fills as your guide.
