Speed Distance Time Calculator
Enter any two of speed, distance, and time and it calculates the third. Useful for road trips, running paces, physics problems, or any situation where you need to work out how long something will take (or how far you'll get).
How to use
- Choose what you want to find: speed, distance, or time.
- Enter the other two values and their units.
- Click Calculate for the result.
Related tools:
Speed, distance, and time are linked by a simple formula: distance = speed x time. Know any two and you can find the third. This comes up in road trips (how long will the drive take?), running training (what pace to hit a target time?), and physics problems. The calculator handles all three directions.
Unit consistency matters. Speed in km/h with distance in km gives time in hours. Speed in m/s with distance in metres gives time in seconds. The calculator handles unit conversion so you can mix inputs - enter speed in km/h and distance in metres and it sorts out the conversion automatically.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to drive 500 km at 80 km/h?
Time = distance / speed = 500 / 80 = 6.25 hours = 6 hours 15 minutes. Add rest stops and traffic - the calculator gives you ideal travel time without delays.
What is average speed vs instantaneous speed?
Instantaneous speed is how fast you are going right now - what the speedometer reads. Average speed is total distance divided by total time, including any stops. A 500km drive taking 7 hours means an average speed of 71 km/h even if you drove at 100 km/h most of the way.
How do I calculate my running pace from speed?
Pace (min/km) = 60 / speed (km/h). Running at 10 km/h = 6:00 min/km pace. At 8 km/h = 7:30 min/km pace. The running pace calculator handles this specifically with race time predictions.
